VivaTech, SIAL, Paris Games Week: trade show photographer in Paris

Exhibitor or organiser: planning coverage of your stand, teams and conversations, from Porte de Versailles to Villepinte.

Paris trade shows have their own rhythm. Crowded spaces, difficult artificial lighting, a constant flow of visitors and sales teams focused on their stands. Photographing this environment without getting in the way, drawing attention or missing key moments is something you learn on location, not in a studio.

I regularly cover major B2B trade shows in Paris, mainly at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Here is how I work.

What trade show photography in Paris covers

A B2B trade show is not an event with a clear beginning and end. It is a continuous day in which everything happens at once: visitors arrive at the stand, a product demonstration starts, a salesperson signs a deal with a client, and the team comes together for a group photograph.

My job is to cover all of this without constant direction from you. I recognise the moments, anticipate movement and work without needing someone to guide me.

I systematically document the overall atmosphere of the stand and show; teams in action, welcoming visitors, demonstrating products and holding conversations; product and branding details; informal moments and networking; and, if requested, a team group photograph at the end of the day.

Equip’Auto Paris: a practical example

Equip’Auto is one of the automotive industry’s leading trade shows, held at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Large stands, mixed lighting and a busy professional environment.

As a trade show photographer in Paris, I work independently from the moment I arrive. There is no need for a detailed briefing on location. I understand how these spaces work, where to position myself, when to step in and when to step back.

The client receives coverage ready for immediate use in internal communications, social media, press relations and archives.

VivaTech, SIAL, Paris Games Week: the same approach in different settings

VivaTech at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles is a technology and innovation exhibition with carefully designed stands and a mix of startup and corporate cultures. Key moments happen during demonstrations and B2B meetings alongside the conferences.

SIAL at Paris Nord Villepinte is an international food industry exhibition with stands from around the world and an intense pace over several days. Photography supports both the teams attending and managers elsewhere who want to see how the show went.

Paris Games Week at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles is France’s largest public gaming show, with a fully B2B operation behind the scenes. Exhibitors, including publishers, manufacturers and technology partners, build stands covering several hundred square metres. Their communications teams have the same needs as at a conventional trade show: documenting the stand, capturing team moments and receiving usable photographs during and after the event.

In all three settings, the method, independence and fast delivery remain the same.

Why independence makes all the difference at a trade show

At a trade show, your team is fully occupied with its own objectives. Nobody has time to manage the photographer.

That is why I work without supervision. I collect my badge at the entrance, locate the stand and get started. If I have a question, I ask it at the beginning of the assignment, not every half hour.

Priorities are agreed beforehand to minimise interruptions to your team. Priority images and the complete gallery follow the agreed deadlines.

Priority images and the complete gallery

For multi-day shows, a priority selection lets you communicate during the event. It includes 10 to 20 images, costs €150 and is delivered at a time agreed before the assignment.

For full coverage, the selected and edited gallery is usually delivered within 24 to 72 hours, depending on the volume and your needs. Deadlines are specified in the quote.
